A stopover in Mbarara for lunch gives you a chance to stretch and enjoy a taste of local Ugandan cuisine. From here, the drive continues westward, descending through the rift valley escarpments with glimpses of crater lakes and traditional homesteads. The game drive lasts 3–4 hours, offering ample opportunities for wildlife photography and birdwatching.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxation before heading out in the afternoon for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is renowned for hosting one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa. You’ll also encounter crocodiles, bathing buffaloes, and a spectacular array of water birds such as African fish eagles, pelicans, and kingfishers.
